BY TRAIN

Direct services between Manchester and London run every 20 minutes with Virgin trains. Local rail services connect Manchester Airport with Greater Manchester districts and the city centre.

There are four key train stations in Manchester city centre - Deansgate, Oxford Road, Victoria and the main station Piccadilly. Oxford Road Station is the closest train station to The Festival Hub (right next door), plus Contact Theatre, HOME and the Martin Harris Centre, whilst Piccadilly is the closest to the Royal Exchange. The Lowry is accessed via metro and the nearest mainline train station is Old Trafford.

Trains

Trains run every 10 minutes, to or from Manchester Piccadilly, with an average journey time of 20 minutes.

Taxis

There is a taxi rank located outside each terminal at Manchester Airport, as well as an official Manchester Airport Taxi Private Hire facility offers passengers with a pre-paid service.

Metrolink

Trams run direct from the airport to Cornbrook, a stop just outside the centre of the city. From Cornbrook there are frequent trams into the city centre itself, just walk across to the opposite platform and hop on an inbound tram. Trams run every 12 minutes at all times except outside the hours of 9:00am - 5:30pm on Sundays and public holidays when they run every 15 minutes. For more information click here.

Tickets are available from machines on every platform of all stops, but not on board trams so please make sure to buy a ticket before you travel.

HOME

The nearest car park is Q-Park at First Street (next door to HOME). There are 28 disabled parking spaces. HOME visitors receive a 20% discount on parking.

Royal Exchange Theatre

There are over 3000 car parking spaces within a 10 minute walk of the Theatre. Car parks which are within easy distance of the theatre and offer late opening include:

  • Market Place NCP multi-storey car park, located by the Renaissance Hotel (320 spaces);
  • High Street multi-storey car park, above the Arndale Centre (1450 spaces)
  • Manchester Arena car park (1000 spaces)

Contact Theatre

The NCP Aquatic Centre car park is close by and Dilworth Street car park, run by University of Manchester is directly in front of the building. You can use the car park after 4pm Monday to Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. You need two pound coins to operate the unmanned barrier to this car park.

The Lowry

You can pre-pay for your parking when you book your tickets either on the phone, in person or online from the Lowry Theatre. The cost is £5. On payment, the Lowry will send you a parking voucher along with your tickets.

Martin Harris Centre

The nearest car park to the Centre is the multi-storey car park off Booth Street West, opposite the Royal Northern College of Music. Parking costs £2.00 from 4.00pm to midnight weekdays, £2 all day on Saturday and Sunday and is payable upon exiting the car park.
